Hello Happy Sugar Baking Land-ites!!!
It is Friday the 13th....oooooooohhohohoo!!!!, and it's almost been a month sine our last post here. Sorry about that! October was super busy as we filmed our cakes for Amazing Wedding Cakes Season 3. We're done now, sort of. We might have some "pick-ups" later on. That is when they call us back to do some of those formal interviews (with the yellow background) to ask questions or have us clarify something that happened. They're kind of fun and I'd love for you guys to see the out takes when we're just goofing around and talking about totally random stuff.
We actually love to talk about random stuff while we work. Our conversations go all over the map from movies to the weather to politics to more bawdy subject matter. What's hilarious is the film crew is always trying to get us to talk about cake while we work, but we don't generally talk about cake while we work!
Mmmmmm.... butter
Overall we are really happy with the cakes they featured this season and the process was definitely easier. You know, it's not easy to try and work with a camera on a tripod half an inch away from your face! Or having a dozen people stare at you and bright lights etc. It can be extremely tiring and wear down your spirits pretty quick. Luckily we're all goof balls and we keep each other going, but it is stressful for sure.
Another great part of this season was our crew. You know, last year we had a lot of crew coming and going because schedules change and this week is this producer, next week is different, and they were all great, but it is hard to find a groove. This time we basically had the same group throughout, including one of our camera girls from last season, Ashley. So it was way easier to hit that comfort zone and have everyone on the same page without us having to explain fondant ten times. We cannot thank these guys and girls enough for making the process fun.
I know Mic has some thoughts on the show he wants to share, but this will probably be our last post on AWC for awhile, so let me answer the question you'll all want to know. When will season 3 air? The simple answer is we don't know. Our production company wanted to film a little early so they had more time to edit and assemble the show and as far as we've heard, they're not even going to start that process till around February. If we had to guess, we're thinking around June or July. I know, it's a long ways off. We can't wait to share everything with you, but we all must be patient.
Anyway, the Holidays are basically here and I've got some gingerbread houses to start on! Thanks for reading everyone, take care!

Just wanted to say it was Good to hear from you ; )
I have been watching AWC reruns on my DVR everyday to teach myself how to make beautiful cakes. I have learned a lot. Everytime I rewatch one of your shows, I hear or see you or Marc do or say something and I get an ah ha~~ One was I did not know that fondant has to "rest". So much easier now. I know how to make pastage. And I like mixing buttercream decorations on fondant.
Enough about me... Keep Up the Good Job. Love Watching you Guys. O just one more thing... I live about an hour and a half north of Sacramento... if you are ever in the neighborhood let me know FYI the neighborhood to me is San Francisco North to the Oregon border.
See Ya - Taffy~~
ps. you've inspired me... check it out!

Thanks Taffy!! Looks like you're well on your way with the blog there. We always try and throw in as many tips and "secrets" as we can while we're talking so people like you can take them and run. Some people think they need to guard their process, but I've always firmly believed in creating a sense of community and cooperation within the cake world.
I can't wait for you to see next season's cakes. All the shops really stepped up and did some great work. Keep an eye on the blog for announcements and such leading up to season 3 and hopefully time will allow me to set up some classes soon too. Take care and thanks again!!
