Hey everyone, husband Mic here. Sad sad news coming out of Chicago yesterday. We were devastated to hear about the fire at the Cake Girls shop in Chicago which has left their beautiful cakes homeless. When Reva looked up from the computer and said, "the Cake Girls burned down" I was left numb it was so shocking.
Reva emailed Brenda and Mary yesterday to offer our support both emotional and even physical if possible. We love those girls and all that they do. They are truly a class act and the gang at Merci Beaucoup carries nothing but the utmost respect for them. It has been an honor to be featured on Amazing Wedding Cakes with them and our thoughts and prayers are with the Cake Girls and their staff at this time.

Thankfully no one was injured or harmed and the residents above the shop escaped the blaze. As much as a crushing blow the loss of the equipment, supplies, etc. is, the fact that no one was hurt is way more important. I know the Cake Girls will "rise from the ashes" as it were and continue kicking major cake butt very soon. And yes, that pun was absolutely intended!
WE tv was circling a reunion show for all the shops recently, but the scheduling was a nightmare so we've gone from finally getting to meet Mary and Brenda face to face, to hearing this horrible news. What a switch a weekend makes, but Reva and I are kicking around some ideas to help the girls out which might include an auction or something so keep your eyes posted on the blog and we'll let you know. Maybe we can band together and help restore their fondant supplies! Or if Marc has his way, buttercream;)
Again, very sad news, but these are strong, smart, inspirational women who will return with a vengeance soon. We love you guys, and wish you all the best as you bring your shop back to life.
